On April 30th, 2024, a significant milestone was marked with the scientific conference “70 years of Ukraine in UNESCO: education, science, culture,” celebrating Ukraine’s 70th anniversary as a member of UNESCO. The event was hosted by the Institute for Cultural Research of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair on scientific education at Drahomanov Ukrainian State University.
One of the highlights of the conference was the international round table titled “Intangible cultural heritage as a field of cultural interaction.” This session provided an invaluable platform for discussing the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, particularly under the challenging conditions faced by displaced Ukrainians worldwide. The discussion underscored the critical role of scientific, cultural, and educational exchanges in times of crisis.
It was an honor to have our UNESCO Chairholder, Professor Hanna Schreiber, participate in this event. Representing the UNESCO Chair, Professor Schreiber contributed her insights into safeguarding of cultural heritage and discussed potential strategies for international cooperation in this vital area.
The round table facilitated a deep dive into the complexities of intangible cultural heritage. It highlighted the ongoing commitment of various stakeholders in navigating the intersecting realms of education, science, and culture in emergency contexts.
This conference not only commemorated a significant historical relationship but also paved the way for future collaborations aimed at strengthening the resilience and vibrancy of cultural heritage globally.
