On 14 September 2026, Muzeum Krakowa hosted the training “Cultural Heritage Is More Than Monuments. Intangible Cultural Heritage in Practice – Safeguarding, Cooperation and New Challenges”, devoted to the specific characteristics of working with intangible cultural heritage and its role in museums, cultural institutions, public administration and the tourism sector. The training was led by Hanna Schreiber, our Chairholder.
Taking the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage as its starting point, the training focused on living practices, knowledge, skills and traditions sustained by communities and transmitted from generation to generation. Participants explored differences between working with tangible and intangible cultural heritage, as well as challenges related to relationships with heritage bearers, participation, documentation, interpretation and the presentation of living heritage. The programme combined lectures with workshop activities.

It was organised within Living Heritage Journeys. The Integration of Intangible Heritage into Cultural Heritage Tourism Experiences (ICH Journeys), an international and interdisciplinary project focused on applied research and the development of innovative, inspiring and sustainable approaches to integrating intangible cultural heritage into cultural tourism experiences. The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Creative Europe programme.
