Mapping terra (in)cognita” at the international conference Generative Traditions: Living Heritage and Artificial Intelligence. New Horizons – Exploring Cultural Possibilities in Athens, Greece.

The keynote presented work prepared in cooperation with members of our UNESCO Chair team, Bartosz Pieliński and Julia Krzesicka-Haberko.

About the conference

The conference was organised by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, through the Directorate of Modern Cultural Heritage, in cooperation with UNESCO. The event was attended by the Director-General of UNESCO and UNESCO’s Assistant Director-General for Culture. It brought together communities, scholars, cultural professionals, research institutions and policymakers to discuss both the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence in relation to living heritage.

The programme addressed questions related to documentation and safeguarding, transmission and sustainability, community participation and appropriation, ethics and intellectual property rights, as well as management policies and future research directions.
Later that day, Hanna Schreiber also took part in the round table “Public Policies and Future Directions. Building a Research and Policy Agenda”.
